A San Bernardino, California bail agent who pleaded guilty in 2004 to charges stemming from the county's bail bond investigation was sentenced last Friday to three years felony probation for soliciting and paying inmates to send him bond business.

Evidence indicates the bail bond company was paying inmates to solicit business, according to prosecutors. In turn, inmates received money into their inmate accounts, free three-way phone calls and lower bail premiums in consideration for bail referrals, the 25-count indictment alleges.

This practice is also in many cases deemed illegal and most definitely deemed as a prohibited practice by bailbondsman according the the Missouri Department of Insurance.
